As a hairdresser i get asked a lot about the best shampoo's you can buy in a high street store! and my answer to that? NONE.
I always advise my clients to go for professional shampoo. Most of the time the response we get is " but high street brands are a lot cheaper" and yes there is a reason for that...they are full of crap! i wont go into the science part but they have a lot of harsh chemicals in them that do nothing good for your locks!. You are basically pouring plastic on your hair, alot of the cheaper brands have a lot of silicone's in them, which might lead you to think that its making your hair lovely and soft, but your just coating it and not actually, cleansing your hair ...so then it gets greasy and itchy quick?... i wonder why!
We do not recommend professional products to gain the money, we actually care about your hair!
they don't have the harsh chemicals in them that the cheaper brands have in. If you colour your hair they don't strip it out! professional keeps the colour vibrancy and longevity! so you don't have to get it done as often as if you are using the right products! ( I'm not talking about root re- growth, just fading).
Your going to a salon spending a fair bit of money on your hair for you to then go home and wash it a few days later in high street brands....you are literally washing away what you have spent! and will then most likely come back to say that's is faded quickly?!.
Professional shampoos are a bit more pricey but they last twice as long, they cleanse your hair, keep your colour fresher for longer and keeps it nourished and looking beautiful! (that's want we want right?!)
You will probably use twice as much, therefore having to buy it on alot more of a regular basis if you are using high street brands, where as stick to professional and it will last sooo much longer as you have to use very little!
Here's an example of a few well known brands but to avoid!
Pantene - its like glue! full of silicone's, just coating and coating your hair and scalp!
Head and Shoulders - will definitely strip your hair colour
Tresemme' - dries your hair out and strips colour
Dove - full of silicone's to coat your hair.....you get the picture!
Remember we are not here to sell, we want you hair looking lovely, just as though you have walked out of the salon!
If you go to the salon and get your hair coloured, i definitely recommend a shampoo they use that's compatible for the colour brand they use!
Trust me you hair will thank you for it!
Happy hair day!
